Photonics developer Solinide introduces LumiCOMB plug-and-play optical frequency comb generator energy efficiency tool for AI datacenters
- Ready-to-order turnkey LumiCOMB generator technology replaces laser racks
- Swedish-produced 2U instrument delivers locked soliton comb at flip of switch
Gothenburg, Sweden, August 31st, 2026: Solinide Photonics, announces today it is excited to make the transition to a commercial vendor with the launch of LumiCOMB – a brand-new photonics offering for the global market. Solinide’s turnkey optical frequency comb generator LumiCOMB is designed for photonics and systems R&D teams (RF labs, researchers, developers). The LumiCOMB single-source comb generator consolidates a rack of lasers with one comprehensive plug-and-play instrument providing a turnkey, coherent, compact and highly energy-efficient tool that benefits AI datacenter technology, telecommunications, semiconductors, consumer electronics and other key growth markets such as quantum and metrology.
A spin-off from the Chalmers University research labs, the Swedish developer of silicon nitride–based photonic integrated circuit (PIC) prototyping solutions is now bringing its patented comb technology to global market, in a transformation to a commercial supplier, backed by a €4M seed round.
– Mark Holm, VP of Technology, Solinide, “The launch of the LumiCOMB marks Solinide’s exciting shift to a commercial supplier with a shippable product based on patented technology.”
The Solinide LumiCOMB is available for order
- A 2U (two vertical rack units), 19” rack – available in O-Band and C-Band format.
- Availability: LumiCOMB O and C-Band products are available to order for global market (contact lumicomb@solinide.com for more information).
- Meet us at SEMICON, Sept. 2-4, Taipei, Booth T9404, to learn about LumiCOMB
- See LumiCOMB at ECOC 2026, Sept 21-23, Malaga, Stand 2089.
“LumiCOMB is supported by Solinide’s foundry service, which provides unique delivery and technical advantages compared to similar market counterparts”, says Marcello Girardi, CEO, Solinide. “Additionally, Solinide offers direct support from the technical team who developed and built the platform, featuring production in Sweden.
Technical details
LumiCOMB is a turnkey optical frequency comb generator in a 2U, 19″ rack unit, built on Solinide’s silicon nitride photonic platform. From a single switch-on, it produces a broadband, phase-coherent comb, a set of evenly spaced laser lines from one source, built on Solinide’s ultra-low-loss silicon nitride micro-resonator platform.
Key benefits for developers and researchers
- Turnkey reliability over fragile high complexity DIY setups
- Designed and built in Sweden, on Solinide’s SiN platform, using advanced e-beam lithography for high-accuracy, low-loss optical components and fast prototyping.
- Compact standard form factor: Replaces a rack of discrete lasers, or a hand-tuned lab comb setup, with one plug-and-play instrument. It is available in O- and C-band, and with custom line spacing values
- World record efficiency published in OFC 2026 with partners, including a leading AI infrastructure vendor
- Continuity: Same vendor offers a path down to integrated and co-packaged solutions as needs scale
- From standby to a fully locked soliton comb, at the flip of a single switch
- Delivers up to 24 usable lines above −5 dBm in the O-band at 200 GHz line spacing. A stable comb delivered on a single polarisation-maintaining fibre, FC/APC terminated
– “LumiCOMB collapses a complex setup into a single turnkey box,” continues Girardi. “One source replaces an array of discrete lasers, cutting parts count, footprint, and power draw. The single-switch operation removes the need for in-house comb stabilisation expertise, so customers get a repeatable, ready-to-use source on day one, and it slots straight into a standard rack alongside existing kits.”

Who will benefit from LumiCOMB? Photonics and systems R&D teams requiring a highly stable multi-wavelength source eliminating the need to build one in-house:
- Co-packaged optics and DWDM transceiver developers evaluating comb-driven architectures
- Datacom and coherent communications research groups
- Metrology and precision measurement labs (optical references, spectroscopy, OCT)
- Microwave photonics and RF signal-generation teams
- University and national-lab photonics groups
- Research teams looking for coherent light sources
